Hannah Mason, Board Member and Co-Founder
Public Relations Consultant
Hannah Mason returned to Lafayette, LA as an adult after playing sports in college (Rhodes College, '01, BA in French), a short TV production career in Los Angeles, starting a family in Natchez, MS, and tagging along with her husband's work and raising children in Houston, Shreveport, Pittsburgh, and Denver. Driven by the goal of bringing organized sports back to the neighborhoods in a way that is convenient for the modern family, Hannah engaged friends and neighbors with the notion of playing sports in the green spaces available just a walk or bike ride away from her home. Her sister, Marietta Smith Adams, (SMU, BA in Psychology, Masters in Education from University of Houston, and currently obtaining Ph.D at U of Florida) also a Lafayette returnee from Houston and Breckenridge, CO, and now an instructor at ULL, taught Laura Palmer there and helped in gathering and organizing the very first soccer league formed in the Greenbriar neighborhood.

Maureen Baumer, Board Secretary
Maureen Baumer is a Lafayette native, wife, mother of 3 boys, and stepmother of 2 girls. She first became involved with LASOAR while helping the program to expand into her neighborhood. Her involvement and interest in outdoor recreation began in her childhood when she traveled with her family throughout the country’s National Parks. She spent her summers in college working in Yellowstone National Park, where she enjoyed camping, hiking, and rafting. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Atlanta, GA before returning to Lafayette in 2005. She is excited about the convenience and sense of community that are allowed by neighborhood sports and about bringing outdoor experiences to the children in Lafayette. She is looking forward to helping LASOAR continue to meet the needs of Lafayette families.
