Launching out of Bayou Benoit, this guided family paddle in the Atchafalaya River Basin nick-named the "American Amazon" due to the diversity of wildlife is open to ages 4 and up + parents.  Experience what is left of what was once thousands of acres of ancient cypress/tupelo forest, see Ospreys dive from their nests into the water to catch fish, and spot Alligators sunning themselves on logs.  Learn why this area is so special and what we can do to protect it for generations to come.

Guided hike for ages 4 and up + parents within the Indian Creek Recreational Area comprising 100 acres of developed recreation facilities, 250 acres of primitive camping area, and the 2,250 acre Indian Creek Lake.

2 Mile, There and back hike.  Primitive/Lakeside

Program Description:
Guided family hike for ages 4 and up + parents along the improved trails of the Clark Creek Natural Area in Woodville, Mississippi.  The gravel trail leads downhill through mixed hardwood/pine forest habitat and past 2 waterfalls 30 feet in height!  

Rating:  Difficult; Trail includes steep inclines, stairs, and some loose gravel.

Trail Running Club

Get fit, explorer style! (Ages 5-18)

Trail running is a great way to stay in shape and enjoy the outdoors.  Get away from the screen and get outside!  Surround yourself with the sights and sounds of nature and run for fun, with the safety of a group.

The LASOAR mission is to reconnect children with the natural world and promote the power of play to improve child and family health and well-being.

Runners will have the opportunity to learn about their natural surroundings through various natural science and environmental education activities throughout the day. 

All trails runs are guided by highly qualified Volunteer Community Leaders and Experts in Trail Running Practices and Techniques.

All you need is a good pair of trail running shoes and the courage to go the distance.

Program Levels:

Level I:  Ages 5-6

  • Maximum Trail Running distances:  0.5-1.5 miles
  • Minimal Obstacles
  • Lessons on Trail Safety and Running Techniques

Level II:  Ages 7-12

  • Maximum Trail Running distances:  1.5-3.0 miles
  • Moderate Obstacles
  • Lessons on Trail Safety and Running Techniques

Level III:  Ages 13-18

  • Maximum Trail Running distances of 3.0 - 10 miles
  • More Advances Obstacles
  • Leadership Opportunities for Young Runners
