Kisatchie National Forest has more than 604,000 acres, is spread across seven parishes in Louisiana and is divided into five managed units called Ranger Districts. Hidden in the bayous, beneath the bald cypress groves and old growth pine, is a world of natural beauty, excitement, learning, recreation, resources and wildlife in their purest form.

Longleaf Vista Recreational Area Interpretive Trail, Provencal, LA 71468

Distance
The day begins with a short 1.5 mile hike through the beautiful Longleaf Vista Interpretive Trail.  Then we'll drive to the Kisatchie Bayou Campground for a second short hike and lunch along the banks of the Kisatchie Bayou.

Driving Directions
From Interstate 49, take the Derry exit 119. Take Louisiana Hwy 119 5.5 miles south to Forest Highway 59 (Longleaf Scenic Byway). Turn right (west) on FH 59 and travel 3 miles to the sign location. From the parking lot, follow the paved path to the gazebo on the point, and the trail begins down the steps to the right. The loop ends up the steps near the restroom by the parking lot.

THERE WILL BE NO POTABLE WATER AT EITHER LOCATION!  Please bring plenty of water for the day.

We will provide snacks and additional gallons of water to refill your bottles.
